Every
business needs somebody who understands, at the end of the day, what
business it is that we’re really in. For
Celebration Bar Exam Review,
that person is Jackson Mumey.
Jackson
has a law degree, but does not practice law. There’s an important
reason why. He realized early on that his unique talents were most
effectively deployed when he assisted in the professional development of
others. This understanding led Jackson to a career that eventually
brought him to the forefront of the country’s test preparation
leadership. His involvement has been both professional and personal,
including a stint at an institution known around the world. For people who study innovative educational programs, those two words represented a true cutting-edge approach to helping children learn in bold new ways. And at Celebration School, the person who helped share the message of progress with the rest of the world was Jackson Mumey. He has been quoted extensively in books and magazine and newspaper articles across America and Europe, and he championed the school’s innovative approaches in a very public way. Today, after helping launch all three campuses of Celebration School and founding the high school's nationally prominent speech and debate program, Jackson returned to active teaching as the Director of Debate at the new Celebration High School for the 2003-2004 school year. In 2004, Jackson coached his debate team to the State Championship in Florida and the NCFL National Debate Championship. After successfully coaching the team to a second straight Florida and National Championship in 2005, Jackson "retired" to devote his full attention to Celebration Bar Exam Review. Jackson
is a true veteran of the test preparation industry. As the founder of
The Study Group Inc., he created a
Web-based bar review business that focused on serving customers with
home study coursework. For many years, he has refined his program and
expanded its scope of services including the online Law Study Group. In
preparation for new growth opportunities, The Study Group Inc. changed
its trade name to Celebration Bar Exam Review
in July, 1999.
"I picture you like the
Wizard of Oz, only nicer." "You're the Phil Jackson of bar review
mentors..."
Jackson
has earned his reputation honestly. Prior to creating The Study Group
Inc., Jackson was a senior leader at SMH Bar Review in Boston for
several years. Beginning as a campus representative, he gained
additional responsibilities that led to him being named Regional
Director. At the time, SMH was the nation’s second largest bar review.
It was here that Jackson refined his unique approaches to preparing
students of all types for tests of all kinds. "Already, I see the common sense approach you advocate for writing, to tap into my ability for more coherent writing and analysis. Previously I was trying to repeat rules with linking them to the facts....and was thin on narrative." In the bar review market, Jackson is a recognized innovator. In the early 1990's he led the way into home study and created the first interactive computer program for bar review. In 2003 he created the first complete online course for the bar exam and led the way with the Online Multistate Personal Trainer™ program -- the first of its kind in the bar review industry. Recently, his iBar "Bar Review On-the-Go" iPod Program has charted new territory for the delivery of lectures using Apple iPods and iTouch devices. Today he leads the way with the innovative use of webinars, online video podcasts and much more. He has created editorial and lecture content for every course offered by Celebration Bar Exam Review, and is a nearly 20-year industry veteran. "Mentor, and perhaps my hero !!!!!! I owe you big time. I felt good about the exam, in all aspects of it. I am flying to Florida to thank you personally" A
cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Jackson helped
develop the nation’s first legal writing center at the school. He was
a member of the team that produced an award-winning publication
recognized for excellence in legal writing and usage of computer
technology. Jackson was part of the on-brief
team in three U.S. Supreme Court cases and
several Federal appellate cases. "What I learned after I enrolled is what a wonderful teacher you are, and how easy you made it for me to 'cut through the fat' and get to the essence of what I needed to know in any given subject." When he’s not serving customers at Celebration Bar Exam Review, Jackson served his former home county of Osceola, Florida in many ways, primarily in the area of education reform. He is past-chairman of the Osceola County WorldClass Schools initiative, the Osceola County Schools Business Advisory Board, and a former member of the board of directors for Community Vision, the Foundation for Greater Osceola Education, the Celebration School Advisory Council, and the Osceola County Schools Strategic Planning Committee. Jackson is a former Regent of Regis University in Denver, his undergraduate alma mater and a current member of the Georgetown University Law Center Admissions advisory group. "I realized after enrolling in your course that you and Sara are Christians. I was so blessed to learn that and know that God has me just where I am supposed to be. Thank you for your heart for bar exam takers and your ministry!" Jackson "Your e-mail [about putting bar results in perspective] was very moving, Jackson. Thank you for it. I'm trying to keep my hopes up but if not, thank you, thank you for your comforting words. It's amazing to hear from you even though your work is "done."
